Central African Republic

Water use, 2016 Algeria Percentage Percentage

Water resources The Central African Republic has average rainfall of 1,343 mm and water availability of about 26,600 m 3 /year per person (AMCOW 2018). Despite having a rich hydrographic network, the country’s water quality and quantity are in decline (FAO 2016). The country’s aqueduct water stress for all sectors measured in 2010 was 0.00 and is projected to remain the same by 2040 (Luo et al. 2015). This score indicates that there is low competition among water users relative to available surface-water resources. Water use in the agricultural sector is very low; this could partly be attributed to the insecurity in the country, which has displaced large populations and prevented people from engaging in agricultural activities.
