DEWA C3: Technical assistance responding to requests from Governments to enhance their institutional and technical capacity on issues of high international priority, such as disaster risk reduction, biodiversity data management and analysis, continental shelf mapping. Division of Regional Cooperation and Representation (DRC) on DRC A1: Substantive servicing of intergovernmental meeting - Support to EECCA / SEE countries in the framework of the Environment and Security initiative (ENVSEC).
Belarus, Lithuania
Draft water management plan for the Lake Druksiai / Drisvyaty basin (Belarus, Lithuania) produced and discussed with regional stakeholders. A cross-border information system is under production. Basin-wide GIS system is developed for the Dniester river basin (Moldova (in partnership with Transnistrian region) and Ukraine). A draft of legal agreement on exchange of environmental information is facilitated.

Global
Support to the Global Adaptation Information Network Needs Identification Workshop in India provided. Meetings of key stakeholders held and the assessment conducted. GAIN secretariat supported. Consultations with potential partners and feasibility assessment of the initial scope of the project conducted. The project reframed on this basis, and a communication strategy developed Project on rural electrification initiated with Development Alternatives in India. Cooperation initiated with Experts in Team at NTNU. The joint report with the Norwegian Friends of the Earth on Barriers to implementing Renewable Energy Technologies prepared, providing vital input to GAIN project implementation in India 5 communities (4 in India and 1 in Kenya) networked through pilot projects North-south and south-south cooperation in environmental information strengthened. A partners’ meeting held in Kampala, Uganda, April 2008. Two proposals to FK Norway submitted; both approved for implementation during 2008-2009. North-south and south-south exchange programme implemented in collaboration with UNEP, EIS-AFRICA, NEMA Uganda and SARDC.
DEWA B4: Networks and partnerships of global, regional, national and specialized institutions to strengthen the infrastructures for data collection, research, analysis, monitoring, assessment and information exchange as well as South-South and North-South cooperation, and contribute to institutional and technical sustainability of capacity-building efforts as called for in the Bali Strategic Plan.
