these plantations are conifers, pine, gmelia, and eucalyptus (Zambia Forestry Department, 2009). A total of 3,774 known plant species are found in the country, with woody plants making up the bulk as shown in Figure 2.9 (ECZ, 2008).
Zambia’s vegetation is categorized into four main types: deciduous forests, woodlands, savannas and grasslands as shown in Figure 2.8 Zambia has many exotic plantations including Chichele, Chati, Choma, Chisamba and Samfya plantations which are both government- and privately owned.
