Target: Reduce by two thirds, between 1990 and 2015, the under-five mortality rate
Zambia’s mortality rate for children under the age of five declined from 190.7 to 119 deaths per 1,000 live births between 1992 and 2007. The infant mortality rate has also declined from 107.2 to 70 deaths per 1,000 live births between
1992 and 2007. The MDG target is to reduce the child mortality rate to 63.6 deaths per live births by 2015 (UNDP, 2012).
