Global biofuel production

Clearly further analysis on these ques- tions is needed. The growing debate about the costs and benefits of biofuel production calls for a cautious approach toward further incentives for this sector. It is clear that bioenergy from agricultural crops pre- sents certain opportunities for climate change mitigation, energy security and development. However other options aimed at maximizing the use of agri- cultural waste products, increasing yields on existing agricultural land and using degraded land for agricul- ture or forestry are also worth further consideration.
