Through this process, we create a template for our DTM with empty areas where the trees were originally located. To fill the empty areas with an estimate value of the terrain height in those locations, we first create a new point shapefile with point features all along the shape of the empty area where trees were located. To do so, we use the Feature Vertices to Points tool (data management => features) (figure 22).
