The point density value of the point cloud can be changed in the tool’s options. A higher point density will increase the resolution of the 3D model, as well as other outputs derived from the point cloud such as the DSM or the orthomosaic, but it will also increase the processing time as more points are identified and located in 3-dimensional space. The DSM, Orthomosaic and Index (Process => DSM, Orthomosaic and Index) is the last tool that is used to output raster datasets that can be further processed in GIS software such as ArcGIS. Although many different files can be created in Pix4D, we only need to produce an orthomosaic and a DSM from our study area to calculate mangrove tree volume (figure 13, figure 14).
