As one can see from the calculations, the quality of water in Debed River for the last 3 years has worsened, by changing the general category from “good” to “satisfactory”. Thus, though in the analysis above it was detected the huge pollution of water resources from different sources, however the strong self-puri fi cation capacity of rivers allow to become clear after fl owing several kilometers. That is why the pollution impact is stronger on the local scale than on regional. 3. Land resources Alaverdi has poor land resources. The city is located in gorges and valleys formed by Debed canyon, Sanahin lowland and tributaries to Debed. The canyon has mostly steep or gradual slopes. The plateaus of Odzun, Akori, Sanahin and Haghpat spread in a narrow line, which are clasts of late Plyocene. The depth of the canyon is 250-350m, with partial asymetrics. The area ofAlaverdi has various levels of erosion. Signi fi cant clefts and cracks have formed on the surface due to continuous winds.
