a wide range of programmes and collaborate with agencies, including United Nations organizations. Although not directly involved in policy development, SACEP does help member countries build and exchange knowledge and provides support for implementing relevant programmes related to climate change issues. BIMSTEC is a regional organization comprising seven member states: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka andThailand. Its aim is to enable economic growth and development in sectors identified as priority areas of cooperation, including trade and investment, transport and communication, energy, agriculture and public health, among others. In recent years, BIMSTEC has focused on the impact of climate change on its priority sectors. During the Fourth BIMSTEC Summit in August 2018, the organization’s member countries committed to forming an Intergovernmental Expert Group to develop a plan for collective action on climate change. Although not specifically focused on climate change issues, the BBIN initiative is also a key player in regional cooperation in the HKH. The initiative in particular promotes cooperation between countries on cross-border issue, such as infrastructure, transport, water management and electricity, through data-sharing and exchanges of experiences and best practices in these areas.
