LAKE VICTORIA BASIN

Musoma is the capital of the Mara region of Tanzania. The city is located on the eastern edge of Lake Victoria, and near the international borders of Tanzania with Kenya and Uganda. According to the census of 2012, Musoma has a population of around 134,000. The people are largely engaged in fishing, while those living in the rural fringes of the city are engaged in pastoralism (National Bureau of Statistics (Tanzania) 2012).
