Experiences in developing a National Environment Information Network: A Uganda Case Study www.grida.no/publications/the-uganda-case-study/

GA has supported a case study that traces the experiences that Uganda has gone through to develop a strong and functional National Environment Information Network, and to mainstream environmental information in national and local level decision making processes. This case study will be of great value to many African countries that are just embarking on this journey, and serves to demonstrate that with enduring support and focus from both the national government and development partners, coupled with a clear vision on the part of the institutions responsible for environmental management in the country, environmental information networks can make an important contribution in achieving improved decision making in Africa.

IEA Community Platform

In collaboration with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), GA launched the Integrated Environmental Assessment (IEA) on-line interactive training resource platform. It includes numerous IEA tools, methods, case studies and reports. Users can share their experiences in applying IEA methodologies in their regions as well as learning from the experiences of a diverse network of practitioners from around the World, communicating with colleagues, and participating in development and testing of new IEA resources.

GA contributed to a study published by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Arctic Climate Impact Science – An Update since ACIA , which represents the most wide-ranging review of Arctic climate impact science since the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment (ACIA) was published in 2005. The report also features maps and graphics prepared by GA.
