GA facilitated the preparation of the UNEP publication, Kick the Habit - a UN Guide to Carbon Neutrality , released on World Environment Day 2008. Written and reviewed by experts from many disciplines and various countries, the book is aimed at a broad audience, with solutions for individuals, small and large businesses, NGOs, international organizations, cities and countries. With case studies, illustrations, maps and graphics the book is intended as a valuable reference publication and entry point for anyone wanting to find out more about going climate neutral.

Vital Water Graphics: An Overview of the State of the World’s Fresh and Marine Waters www.unep.org/dewa/vitalwater

The report presents an overview, through a set of graphics, maps and other illustrations, of the current state of the world’s fresh, coastal and marine waters. It illustrates the causes and effects of trends that threaten our water resources, with examples of areas of major concern and future scenarios for the use and management of fresh, coastal and marine waters. This is a joint publication of the UNEP and GA and published as part of UNEP’s global water policy and strategy.

The report examines the role and impact of environmental factors in securing human safety and sustained development of the eastern Caspian Sea region, including the parts of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan opening onto the Caspian Sea. It also looks into the potential impacts of climate change on the vulnerable ecosystem of the Caspian Sea and on the region’s potential for tourism as a growing and real opportunity for sustainable development of the coastal zone.
