Edited by Christian Nellemann, Stefan Hain and Jackie Adler; launched on 22 February 2008 during the 10th Special Session of the Governing Council /Global Ministerial Environment Forum in Monaco. In Dead Water describes the impact of climate change on the World's declining fish stocks, which could affect millions of people who depend on the oceans for food and income. The report was prepared for UNEP by GA and UNEP-WCMC with contributions from various individuals and institutions including the University of Plymouth, the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research, the University of British Columbia, the Institute of Zoology, Princeton University, the University of Barcelona and the Sustainable Europe Research Institute. GA facilitated the preparation of the Climate Neutral Net website ,, also launched in Monaco in February 2008. The Network, a web- based project, is designed to organize the small but growing wave of nations, local authorities and companies who are pledging significant reductions in emissions en route to zero emission economies, communities and businesses. The aim is a truly global information exchange network open to all sectors of society from presidents, prime ministers and princes to ordinary people around the World.

Environment and Poverty Times www.grida.no/publications/et/ep5/

GA published a new edition of Environment and Poverty Times that was launched at the TICAD IV Conference in Yokohama, Japan in May 2008. The paper features short articles, maps, graphics and other illustrations that focus on the complex links between environment and poverty reduction. It describes how natural resources can contribute to economic growth that also benefits the poor. It shows how the right mixture of entrepreneurship, investments and enabling policies at national and international levels can create economic opportunities for people to move beyond subsistence levels. The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the World Resources Institute provided support for the preparation of the paper.
