Support to UNEP provided in the preparation and launch of the UNEP report The Environmental Food Crisis: The Environment's Role in Averting Future Food Crises www.grida.no/publications/rr/food-crisis/ at the UNEP Governing Council in Nairobi in February 2009 and at the release of the report at the 17th session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development in New York in May 2009. Support to UNEP provided by organizing the launch of the publication Climate in Peril www.grida.no/publications/climate-in-peril/ at the UNFCCC Climate Change Talks in in Bonn, Germany in March 2009 in Bonn, Germany. The publication was also released at the Many Strong Voices Planning Workshop in Washington, DC in March 2009 Support to UNEP provided by taking part in World Environment Day 2009 activities. World Environment Day celebration in Arendal organized with the preparation and launch of a major UNEP publication, The Natural Fix? The Role of Ecosystems in Climate Mitigation, www.grida.no/publications/rr/natural-fix/ the release of the report Vital Forest Graphics at a seminar on payments for ecosystems services hosted by the Fridtjof Nansen Institute in Oslo, and the screening of the Home, a film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, in Arendal. Support to UNEP and the Norwegian Ministry of Environment provided by contributing to the joint Norwegian Ministry of the Environment-UNEP conference “High Mountain Glaciers and Challenges caused by Climate Change” hosted by the Norwegian Polar Institute in Tromsø, Norway in June 2009. Support to UNEP’s climate change programme provided by organizing a "Climate Dialogue" during the Hove Festival in Arendal in June. Participants included representatives of political parties, businesses, environmental NGOs, and the Deputy Director of UNEP-WCMC, Monica MacDevette, Support to UNEP provided by organizing information and awareness raising activities to promote UNEP’s campaign “Seal the Deal”. Information stands and stamping stations were set up during the Hove Festival in June, the 20 th Anniversary of GRID-Arendal in August, the National Science Week celebration in Aust Agder in September, the International Days celebration in Arendal in October, and the International Day of Climate Action in Oslo in October. More than 3000 signatures collected on cloth banners, which formed part of the historic Climate Petition displayed during COP 15 of the UNFCCC in Copenhagen in December 2009.
