Annual Report 1999

A Vision for All

Whether you are

aware of it or not,

if you are a mayor , a minister of the environment, an indigenous person from the Arctic, a citizen in one of the world's mega-cities, a chief executive officer of a business, or a head of state,

you need to have an

environmental vision.

This vision must be built on a keen understanding of environmental issues and the impact these issues have on your personal objectives and values. For the past ten years , GRID-Arendal has supported the United Nations Environment Programme in helping to provide people with the foundation for these visions. We have been working with international government organisations, national governments, cities, businesses, research centres, grassroot groups and individuals to help build these visions, and to provide the reassurance that their decisions are based on the most up-to-date and dependable environmental information. Our work has been both frustrating and inspiring. The complexity and difficulty in implementing our mission has been compensated by its importance and challenge. Our impatience is stimulated by positive results as seen on the next pages.
